Themes for Research
Original Clinical Research
Research projects pertaining to medical studies; include the full spectrum of disease-state and/or therapeutic areas. Case studies or clinical reviews include clinical case reports or clinical vignettes highlighting unusual cases or innovative approaches to clinical problems/techniques.
Research pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic.
PA Value and Impact
Research in this area may address the roles PAs play in providing quality healthcare, improve patient satisfaction, or increase access to care; it may also address public awareness or perceptions of PAs; PA utilization as it relates to the cost-effectiveness or medical liabilities of healthcare.
Abstracts are the first step in the poster submission process. It is a summary of what will be presented in your poster. An abstract must be submitted first for consideration by the CAPA CME Committee. Approved abstracts will be invited to submit a poster for presentation at CAPACon 2022.
At least one author per poster is required to attend CAPACon in-person. Please do not submit an abstract if at least one author cannot attend.

Abstracts must be submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than June 3rd, 2022 at 11:59 pm PST. Please include "CAPACon Abstract Submission" in the subject line. Late submissions will not be considered.
It is strongly recommended that submitting authors begin the submission process prior to the last day of the deadline.
All submissions will be peer-reviewed. If your abstract is selected, you will be notified via email no later than June 27th.
Research must be conducted by PAs or PA students and fall within one of the three Themes for Research.
Authors whose abstracts have been approved by CAPA will be invited to submit a full poster for presentation. Posters will be available for viewing at CAPACon 2022 (October 6-9, 2022).
CAPA will not consider submissions with industry or medical education company involvement or sponsorship. Authors may have relationships to industry (which must be disclosed), but the submission must be independent of those relationships: written by the author without industry or medical education company planning, oversight, editing, review, financial support or approval.
Submission Specifications & Deadlines
- Posters should be prepared and printed in the following size: 48" x 36"
- The poster does not have to include new primary research.
- If new primary research is featured and the study is ongoing, it must be concluded by July 2022. Please indicate that in the abstract, as well.
- All research presented must have a clear application to the PA profession.
- Authors do not need to be CAPA members.
- One author must attend CAPACon in order for their poster to be accepted.
- Submissions that consist solely of literature reviews will not be accepted.
- A mockup of the completed poster must be submitted for peer review by September 15th.
- The attending author may either hand-deliver their printed poster to CAPA staff on Wednesday, Oct. 5, or ship their poster to the following address by Sept. 28.

Selection for participation will be based on the quality of research, clarity of the abstract, and adherence to the guidelines.
Multiple submissions on similar topics from the same researcher are discouraged.

CAPACon Registration & Attendance
At least one author is required to register for CAPACon 2022 to display their poster. Conference registration must be completed by September 15th, 2022. Poster authors who have not registered for the conference will be excluded from CAPACon and all associated publications.
Authors are responsible for all costs associated with registration and poster creation. CAPA does not offer any conference scholarships at this time.
CAPACon will be an in-person meeting at the Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa from October 6th-9th, 2022. Posters will be displayed throughout the duration of the conference for attendees to view.
The corresponding author is responsible for contacting and coordinating with all other authors in their group. CAPA will only have contact with the corresponding author. Please ensure that the corresponding author is willing and able to serve as such.
