Q: What is the CAPA-PAC?
A: California Academy of PAs Political Action Committee.
Q: What is the purpose of the CAPA-PAC?
A: CAPA’s Political Action Committee (PAC) is one way by which PAs can participate in the political process.
Q: To whom does the collected money go?
A: Financial support to the CAPA PAC helps forge relationships with California State legislators. These lawmakers have the power to change state law. Contributions to the CAPA PAC help these leaders with their ability to advocate for the physician-PA team model in Sacramento. CAPA PAC funds cannot be used to pay CAPA staff, lobbying services or volunteer time/expenses.
Q: I already pay CAPA dues, why am I asked to contribute separately to the CAPA-PAC?
A: A separate and distinct CAPA PAC contribution from the member is very important. Money from the general fund, membership dues or other moneys designated for other purposes cannot be used for the CAPA PAC. Laws governing Political Action Committees are very strict about this. Your CAPA PAC contributions are very important! They are voluntary and not tax-deductible.
