CAPA's Statement on the Recent Rise in AAPI Violence
There has been a significant rise in hate crimes and violence against members of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities across the nation and in California. More than 3,000 hate incidents against AAPIs have been reported since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. A combination of pandemic stressors, the sociopolitical climate, and false information posted on social media daily have motivated many of these despicable acts. CAPA will not stand for this.
CAPA stands in solidarity with all AAPI against discrimination, hate crimes, and social injustices. PAs have always treated their patients with the objective of preserving the health, safety, welfare, and dignity of everyone, regardless of skin color. Until this kind of hate is eradicated, CAPA will continue to demonstrate support and stand beside the AAPI communities as the battle against these atrocious acts of violence continues.
