The goals and focus of the Committee are:

  • To promote the physician assistant profession in California
  • To present a coherent and consistent message to media services interested in health care
  • To create and promote projects and events which promote physician/physician assistant team practice
  • To seek out and develop conduits of communication with the physician communities of California

The terms and conditions of service on the Public Relations Committee are:
You must be a CAPA member.

Appointment: Appointment to the Committee is on an annual term, from July 1st through June 30th.
Members may be appointed at any time during the year to fill a vacancy. Interest in reappointment to the Committee should be sent to the chair by early June.

Meetings, via conference calls or in person normally occur 2 – 3 times annually. Members will be reimbursed for approved expenses relating to participation on the Committee.

Tasks:

  • When appropriate, develop and publish educational materials including videos, informational booklets and Fact Sheets
  • Generate PA focused materials for publication in journals, magazines and newspapers
  • Define and maintain a consistent, coherent message to various media groups
  • Cultivate positive relationships with health care reporters within the media
  • At the board’s request, respond to adverse reporting with letters, follow-up interviews or fact sheets
  • Develop CAPA marketing and exhibiting venues to promote the PA profession and its commitment to physician team practice
  • Pursue creative approaches to developing and nurturing relationships with physician communities and assist other committees in doing the same
  • Continue to produce “PHYSICIAN-PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT; THE DOCTOR’S PERSPECTIVE” programs in venue across the state
