Dear Fellow CAPA Student Members,
I am delighted to be your Student Representative for the upcoming year. As a voting member on the CAPA Board of Directors for the year 2012-2013, my major goal is to represent current students and encourage new students to get involved with CAPA. I believe it is imperative that we begin our involvement in CAPA as students so we can gain a better understanding of what current PA-S are doing to make our profession strong. I look forward to opportunities to meet student leaders and students from various California PA programs so we can begin to establish a strong communication network. Through avenues like our CAPA Facebook page and our CAPA bi-monthly news articles (e-news), we can educate one another about the new strides we are achieving as PAs. We can achieve this if students consider writing for the CAPA magazine and share their experiences through their educational journey at their respective schools.
This year, CAPA’s 36th Annual Conference will be held in Palm Springs from October 4th through October 7th, 2012. Our focus at this conference is to weave in our competency, versatility and compassion. Each one of us brings unique perspectives and talents into the fabric of the versatile PA profession. Also, CAPA at Napa will be held on February 23rd, 2013. I would encourage you to take time out of your busy schedules as PA students to attend these conferences as it provides you ample opportunity to attend various workshops for students and networking opportunities. Please free to come and introduce yourself to me as I would be happy to help you with any information you may need.
Once we get involved in CAPA as students, we can gain an understanding of what current PA leaders are doing to help the PA profession grow. This will help us future PAs learn what we need to do in order to propel the PA profession forward towards new heights in the California medical system. We can then help shape the future PAs of California via mentoring and provision of shadowing opportunities.
Give the CAPA office a call.
We Love Hearing From You
