Welcome Student Members

  • Chelsea HemmingWelcome to the Student Section of the CAPA Website!

It is my honor to represent you on the 2013-2014 CAPA Board of Directors. The physician assistant profession is currently undergoing many exciting changes here in California. Being members of CAPA is a great way to advocate for the future of our career. As students, we represent the future of this profession so it is imperative that we are active in our awareness and support policy that will impact all practicing physician assistants in California.

As students, CAPA provides a great opportunity to get involved and network with your colleagues. I urge all of you to attend the Annual CAPA Conference in Palm Springs from October 3rd to October 6th, 2013. You can attend all or part of the conference. On Saturday, October 5 you will have the chance to attend the student track that will have lectures and activities geared toward students. Attendance will strengthen your skills and provide valuable information on how to survive as a PA-S. There will be another conference, CAPA at Napa, held on February 22, 2014. Attending these conferences provides a chance to meet fellow students, possible preceptors and employers.

I know school can be overwhelming, but I urge you to become active in this organization and in your community. As a second year student at Western University of Health Sciences, I know this is often easier said than done. Being involved in leadership and volunteering is a breath of fresh air and has continually reminded me why I love this profession. Let me know if you have any questions, I am here to help you in any way that I can.

    Respectfully,
    Chelsea Hemming
    CAPA Student Representative 2013-2014
