• Improve pediatric otoscopic skills

• Describe the various types of otalgia in children

• List the bacterial pathogens that most commonly cause acute otitis media (AOM) • Describe the management of various types of pediatric otologic infections, utilizing evidence-based guidelines and recommendations

• Identify concerns associated with antibiotic resistance, both in general and specific to these organisms • Recognize risk factors that predispose children to infections caused by resistant organisms

• Explain the judicious use of antibiotics in patients with AOM

• Identify appropriate candidates for antimicrobial treatment in AOM

• Differentiate between currently available agents for ear infections in children with regard to efficacy and adherence
