Learning Objectives:

This presentation reviews the pertinent anatomy, fracture types, proper management, how to splint, and when to refer.  Tendon injuries and how to examine for these as well as the proper neurological and circulatory exams are also reviewed.  Additional topics include Gamekeeper’s Thumb, Fight Bites, Mallet Fingers, High Pressure Injection Injuries and Crush Injuries to Finger Tips.  The participant should acquire a good general knowledge of the upper extremity anatomy, how to perform a proper examination, and how to manage fractures, tendon lacerations and the topics above.
